Title: Pesticidal Action of selected Homoeopathic Medicines against Aphis Craccivora in Horticultural setup
Authors: Varadalakshmi, P.B; Sreeja, S
Abstract: Usage of chemical pesticide has dominated the traditional organic farming due to its faster action. But over a period of time, we started experiencing the harmful impact the chemical applications cause. Use of genetically modified plants intended for pest resistance can produce allergenic effects in the consumers. Harmful effects on the health of consumers so produced by the usage of chemicals has turned to be a major killer and causation for cancers, chronic illness, nervous system diseases and reproductive problems in people exposed to pesticides from home and garden.Homoeopathy remedies can produce a wide range of positive impactin the field of horticulture. Homoeopathy itself is a tool with great potential in agro-ecosystems. By this study, its effectiveness in the pesticidal action against aphid can be evaluated. If so, an
5ecofriendly, simple, safer and low cost alternative to chemicals in the field of horticulture can be developed and its potential against pests can be explored, thus propagating the agro-homoeopathy worldwide.
Description: From this study, the pesticidal action of Allium cepa 30, Calendula officinalis 30and Camphoraofficinalis 30 against Aphis craccivorawereobserved among which Camphora came up to be more effective.
