A study to assess the avoidable Prenatal risk factors in Mother's of children with Learning Problems Collection home page

The women, especially in a developing country like India face many problems in giving birth to a healthy child, these problems range from inability in meeting with their nutritional requirements to even withstanding violence from their intimate partner;moreover these may portray as risk factors for the developing fetus. The prenatal period, is when, the human inside the womb undergoes physical, cognitive and psychological development. Some of these risk factors are preventable like the nutritional deficiency, mental and emotional stress faced by the mother and use of antidepressants or antihypertensives that may otherwise have an adverse impact According to the latest review 10% of children are been affected with learning problems among the total population. [2] So on enquiring with the learning disability OPD of SKHMC and cross examining the antenatal history of various case records of children affected with learning problems, I could find a considerable link between the above mentioned avoidable prenatal risk factors and the chance of children being born with learning problems and this made me choose the topic for further research.
