Antifungal Activity of Dulcamara 30C,200C,1M on Common Onion plants (Allium Cepa) affected by Stemphylium Vesicarium ( Onion Leaf Blight)

Abstract

This observational study aimed to see the efficacy of homeopathic remedy Dulcamara in the management of Stemphyllium vesicarium in Allium cepa. A prospective, random trail based, multi-centre observational study was conducted at the Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College premises from February, 2019 – April, 2019. The ultimate aim of this research was to check the effectiveness of Dulcamara30C,200C&1M in treating Stemphyllium vesicarium in Allium cepa and to check, which out of the three potencies acts the best. Also, to check the effectiveness of Soaking Method in providing resistance to the plant from the development of the disease and on controlling the appearance of Stemphyllium vesicarium on onion leaves.

Three potencies of Dulcamara, i.e., Dulcamara 30C,Dulcamara 200C and Dulcamara1M were used in this study. To conduct the study two methods, namely Soaking and spraying method were used as methods to induce medication into the plants. The study was broadly divided into 7 sets with each set containing 10-15 subsets of onion grown under various research parameters.The SET1 & SET2 are NEUTRALSN1 & N2 where the SET1 is without fungal inoculation and without medicines and the SET2 is with fungal inoculation and without medicines. The SET3 are considered as the negative control and are treated with spirit(OH) by foliar spray method. The SET4 are considered as the positive control and are treated with fungicide (FUN) (MANCOZEB) by foliar spray method. The SET5 are treated with the DULCAMARA 30C by foliar spray method. The SET6 are treated with the DULCAMARA200C by foliar spray method. The SET7 are treated with the DULCAMARA 1M by foliar spray method.In the present research work it is proved beyond doubt that the Homoeopathic medicine DULCAMARA 200C is highly effective in treating the stemphylium leaf blight in onion plants when compared to all N1,N2,OH,FUN,30C,1M sets.
