| Abstract: | Depression is characterised by persistent and pervasive sadness that lasts for at least 2 weeks. Depression in elderly is a major health problem because of its noxious consequences including increased threat of morbidity, suicide and decreased somatic, cognitive and social functioning. According to World Health Organization (WHO), prevalence of depressive disorders is 10 to 20% among elderly. But it is not so much as recognised and diagnosed, as most of the people think it is a part of life . |
