Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vagina that result in abnormal discharge, pruritus vulvae, soreness and pain. The cause may be the alteration of normal flora of vagina or any type of infection. These types of vaginitis are common in sexually active women due to sexually transmitted organisms. some ladies have irritant or allergic vaginitis, atrophic vaginitis seen after menopause due to lowered oestrogen levels, and some types of dermatitis also cause vaginitis.¹ Vaginitis is also seen in sexually inactive females, results in distressing symptoms, especially those with recurrent symptoms. Thus, it is important to take proper management of the condition. A thorough history taking will determine the causes . The common being causative organisms are vaginal candidiasis, trichomoniasis, and Bacterial Vaginosis.
